Fostering Renewable energy technologies and energy Efficiency knowledge towards near Zero Energy Buildings of engineers and professionals in Western Balkan Countries

Solutions developed

Modules to be modernised or introduced as new have been selected according to a survey carried out in the initial phase of the project to identify labour market needs. The results of the survey have shown that energy management is the most required field of expertise while solar technologies are considered the renewable source of major interest, and photovoltaics the target technology followed by energy storage, solar thermal, heat pumps and HVAC systems. Hence, teaching material is being improved and modernised and new modules are being taught to educate engineering / architecture/business/VET students with technical, professional and managerial abilities to promote the uptake of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency in buildings.

Main results

Modules at different levels in Engineering, Architecture, Management and technical VET curricula have been identified and modernised or introduced as new (9 modules on Bachelor level, 7 on Master level, 5 on Integrated Master level and 5 on VET level). Laboratory equipment have been purchased to support the teaching of modernised modules. Teaching of new and modernised modules is in place. Specific courses/seminars (for students, academics and stakeholders) and dissemination activities are also in place. Internships of students in industries will be promoted.
