Driving a sustainable future in space cooling
Solutions developed
The CoolLIFE project aims to meet Europe’s rising space cooling demand by developing innovative solutions. Central to this is an open-source tool that maps cooling needs across Europe, offering technology recommendations to meet those demands. The project also creates a "knowledge hub" for quality-controlled data, funding options, and resources on space cooling. Emphasizing natural, passive, and nature-based solutions, CoolLIFE will test and validate these technologies through case studies across Europe, ensuring they are practical and ready for broad adoption.
Main results
The CoolLIFE project will deliver key results to modernize and decarbonize space cooling in Europe. It will develop a validated, user-friendly, open-source tool to map space cooling demand from hectare to continent level, guiding users in adopting innovative and sustainable cooling technologies. The project will also establish a "knowledge hub," offering quality-controlled data and resources to address the current information gap in space cooling. Additionally, it will explore and validate natural, passive, and nature-based cooling methods through case studies across Europe, promoting low-energy, sustainable cooling solutions.
