Buildings as Efficient Interoperable Formers of Clean Energy Ecosystems
Solutions developed
In the modern era, buildings stand as both marvels of design and voracious consumers of energy. In the realm of energy management, buildings often function in silos, lacking the adaptability needed for integration into the broader energy landscape. This disconnect poses a significant hurdle to efficient and sustainable practices. Addressing this challenge head-on, the EU-funded WeForming project aims to transform the energy paradigm in buildings. Focused on intelligent grid-interactive efficient buildings, it seeks to harmonise energy processes, providing innovative solutions that bridge the gap between buildings and the dynamic energy ecosystem. The project will pave the way for smart cities adorned with innovative, energy-efficient structures.
Main results
The WeForming project aims to revolutionize energy management in buildings, emphasizing their integration with the broader energy ecosystem. It develops innovative solutions for Intelligent Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings (iGEBs), ensuring they operate intelligently in diverse environments. The project's umbrella framework covers operational optimization, interoperability assurance, business models, and smart city integration. It seeks to establish iGEBs as modular units, overcoming non-technical barriers and creating active utility nodes within cities.
