Webinar on “Challenges and solutions for a 100% renewable heating and cooling sector in Germany”

31 May 2022 Online

In the context of the current energy crisis and EU’s climate goals, accelerating the development and deployment of renewables becomes crucial. Heat represents half of the energy consumed in Europe and its decarbonisation with renewable heat solutions contributes not only to emissions reduction, but also to energy security. As such, Solar Heat Europe in collaboration with the German Solar Thermal Technology Panel (DSTTP) is organising a national roundtable focused on Germany, a country heavily dependent on Russian gas and currently affected by the energy crisis, addressing the hot topic of energy independence, heat decarbonisation and the use of decentralised heating solutions that are already available today.

The event will be addressing the status, opportunities and challenges of the research, development and innovation efforts for renewable heating and cooling technologies in Germany, as well as the way forward to explore their potential to the maximum. The roundtable aims to bring together stakeholders and improve collaboration for applied research and pilots, as well as to accelerate the deployment of renewable heating and cooling solutions for a full decarbonisation and independence of the German heating system.

The roundtable is part of a series of events supported by the European Commission under the umbrella of the Renewable Heating and Cooling European Technology Innovation Platform (RHC-ETIP).
