Thermochemical Heat Recovery and Upgrade for Industrial Processes

Solutions developed

TechUPGRADE projects aims to demonstrate and validate an innovative thermochemically operating technology capable of reaching much higher temperature levels, all while maintaining a superior level of safety, cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency compared to competing technologies. Furthermore, the technology’s adaptability allows easy integration into systems that use renewable energy, while offering enhanced durability and reduced energy costs.

Main results

The TechUPGRADE project aims to develop a novel thermochemical technology, the Hydration Heat Transformer, for efficient, safe, and sustainable waste heat recovery and upgrading industrial processes to higher temperatures (150-250°C). This solution outperforms competing technologies by integrating with renewables, consuming minimal electricity, offering high efficiencies, and being cost-effective with long lifespan. It can utilize various heat sources and sink temperatures, with the option for heat storage.
