New chair and vice chair of the 100% RE Buildings HWG
In April 2024, the 100% RE Buildings Horizontal Working Group held elections to select its new chair and vice chair. We are pleased to announce that Maria Copogreco was elected as chair and Neil Turley as vice chair of the group. Welcome aboard, Maria and Neil!
Maria Capogreco is a Freelance Engineer, with expertise in Civil Engineering – Buildings & Construction and Energy Management (Buildings Energy Efficiency and RES power plants).
She has gained professional experience in both the private sector and international / governmental organizations. Over the years, she has worked for different UN organizations (UN Environment, UN DESA, UN ESCAP, UNDRR), both within the UN Volunteer Programme and as a Consultant, on projects of different nature. Moreover, she has collaborated, and currently collaborates, with the European Commission as an Expert Evaluator within the R&I Programmes Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
“I am pleased to take over the role of Chair of the 100% RE Buildings HWG and I will dedicate myself to strengthening the contribution of the RHC Platform as interlocutor for the European Commission. The efforts of the HWG will be orientated to significantly contributing to shaping future EU policies / Legislative Framework in the sector, suggesting possible research topics, on the basis of the market needs analysis, proposing initiatives to boost up the sector, for instance, by empowering professionals (e.g.: architects, engineers, building contractors, technicians), sharing knowledge on RHC technologies or strengthening the stakeholders engagement. In our future work, the support of stakeholders is extremely important.”
Neil Turley is a practising Mechanical Engineer for +30 years in the sector of Built Environment, always aiming at a Sustainable Model.
He gained wide experience in the MEP Design Consultancy sector, over a variety of building usages and applications, and on different sized commercial projects. Intermittent Design Projects have enabled an ongoing R&D development program to generate viable Sustainable HVAC & RE solutions in the residential sector, with the dissemination of validated solutions, and to promote empowerment in replication and collaboration.
