The Biomass Technology Panel of the RHC-Platform was launched on 15 April 2009. Already more than 100 stakeholders have expressed their interest to work together. The panel is organized by the European Biomass Association (www.aebiom.org)

The aim of the panel is to deliver comprehensive documents in order to show what the sector can achieve by 2020, 2030 and 2050 (vision), and moreover, how these goals can be achieved (strategic research agenda).

This input is important in order to convince the Commission to reserve funding for R&D not only for transport biofuels and bioelectricity, but also heating and cooling. Industrial initiatives emanated from other technology platforms (e.g. biofuels TP) are due to receive several billion euros in the coming years.
